2017 PGA Championship
Last year, the 99th PGA Championship was held at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, the same course that typically hosts the Wells Fargo Championship on the PGA Tour. Justin Thomas picked up his first major championship with a two-stroke victory, but both Patrick Reed and Francesco Molinari gave us a preview of 2018 by finishing in a tie for 2nd place with Louis Oosthuizen.

1992 PGA Championship at Bellerive
Nick Price won the 1992 PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club by three storkes over Nick Faldo, John Cook, Jim Gallagher, Jr. and Gene Sauers. Sauers had held at least a share of the lead after each of the first three rounds, but a final round 75 dashed his hopes. This was the first of three major championships for Price.

Future PGA Championships
This is the last year the PGA Championship will be held in august as the final major of the year. Next year the PGA Championship is moving to May to slide in btween the Masters in April and the U.S. Open in June. The Player Championship will move back to March.
This move should be good for golf in a number of ways. For the PGA, it will highlight their mission and their member club professionals earlier in the season when many golfers, especially in the norteast, are just getting started for the summer. For the PGA Tour, the playoffs will not have to compete against the NFL.
For the players, they will be able to take some time off in the later part of the season. Too many big events were beginning to stack up in August and September. For the events themselves, the courses will be able to be presented in better condition, including TPC Sawgrass for the Players Championship. And for the fans, all of the top players will be fresher for all the big events, hopefully leading to even more exciting finishes.

Bellerive Country Club Course Information
Bellerive Country Club has hosted one U.S. Open, in 1965, only five years after opening the current course, making it the “youngest” course to host the national championship. Gary Player won that year, defeating Kel Nagle in a playoff, and becoming the first foreign born player to win the U.S. Open in 45 years. Bellerive also hosted the 2004 U.S. Senior Open and the 2013 Senior PGA Championship.
Bellerive Country Club was founded in 1897 and moved to its current location in 1959. The club commissioned Robert Trent Jones to design the course, which opened in 1960. Bellerive is a typical Jones course, with “large” being the prevailing theme. Large bunkers and large greens will lead to some long bunker shots.
Ironically, this will be the second shortest course for a major championship in the last fifteen years. And while the 2018 PGA Championship will be contested at a posted distance of 7,316 yards, the back tees of the course can be stretched to 7,547 yards.
The weather is this area had been dry for most part this year. Since March, only the month of June saw a higher than average level of precipitation, and some areas of the state have been under a drought. However, on Tuesday nearly an inch of rain fell, giving way to softer conditions.
