There are two majors coming up this week in golf, one for the senior men, and one for the women. The senior men will be playing in the 39th U.S. Senior Open Championship and the women will be competing in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. The PGA Tour, the European Tour, and the Web.com Tour will also have golf tournaments this week.
U.S. Senior Open Championship
The Broadmoor’s East Course will be set up at 7,264 yards and will play to a par of 36-34-70. The yardage for each round of the championship will vary due to course setup and conditions. Based on the course setup for the championship, the USGA Course Rating™ is 73.8 and the Slope Rating® is 141.

The Broadmoor’s East Course was designed by Donald Ross and opened for play in 1918. The East Course, which is at an elevation of over 6,400 feet, is now a combination of holes from Ross’ original layout and holes that were designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1952.
Perry became the sixth man to win this championship more than once last year when he shot a final round of 2-under-par 68 at Salem Country Club in Peabody, Massachusetts, and finished with 12 straight pars to win his second U.S. Senior Open title. Perry was the first winner since Bernhard Langer in 2010 at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington to play a bogey-free final round. His total of 16-under par 264 was three strokes better than the championship record of 267, which Perry had tied in 2013 when he won at Omaha Country Club in Omaha, Nebraska, matching Hale Irwin in 2000 at Saucon Valley in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

KPMG Women’s PGA Championship
The KPMG women’s PGA Championship will take place at Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Kildeer, Illinois. Kemper Lakes will play to a par of 72 and a distance of 6,741 yards. Last year’s champion was Danielle Kang, who won at Olympia Fields Country Club by one stroke over Brooke Henderson, who won the 2016 Championship at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington.
Originally known as the LPGA Championship, the inaugural playing of the event was held in 1955 at Orchard Ridge Country Club in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Beverly Hanson defeated Louise Suggs in a match play final round after 3 rounds of stroke play had whittled the field. Since that first playing, this has been exclusively a stroke play event.
Mickey Wright won this Championship a record four times from 1958 to 1963. Inbee Park, Nancy Lopez, Se Ri Pak and Annika Sorenstam have all won three times. Park and Sorenstam each won this championship times consecutive times, Sorenstam from 2003 to 2005, and Park from 2013 to 2015.

PGA Tour – Quicken Loans National
The Quicken Loans National will be held at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm in Potomac, Maryland, which will play at 7,139 yards with a par of 70. Kyle Stanley is the defending champion, winning last year on the first playoff hole over Charles Howell, III, after the two men finished tied at 7-under par, two strokes ahead of Rickie Fowler and Martin Laird. Tiger Woods will return to action this week, joining Stewart Cink, Geoff Ogilvy and Jimmy Walker as major championship winners in the field.
TPC Potomac reopened in 2009 after a complete redesign that had input from several noted architects, including Tom Fazio and Pete Dye, along with PGA Tour veterans Fred Funk and Davis Love, III. A tributary of the Potomac River, the historic Rock Run Creek, was restored as part of the redesign, and now runs along five holes on the back nine. This will be the second year in a row that TPC Potomac will host the Quicken Loans National.
